I have been creating sculptures using terra-cotta. I use a primitive technique called “ Himozukuri”[coil-building*]  for molding the clay and I do coloring before firing which is my own method. My creation is inspired by nature and the daily life. To expand those images, I explore various styles of techniques, although the method that I can use is limited. I work with the softness of the color and the material. I also combine with different materials, such as the metal and the wood, and they are displayed as spatial compositions at solo exhibitions. I hope you can feel a world that is a step outside your daily life though them.

 

*Coil-building is a method of creating pottery. It has been used to shape clay into vessels for thousands of years. It is one of the methods used in teraa-cotta sculpture;The clay is rollded into cylindrical strips about the size of the thickness of the thumb and wound up to create the desired shape.

テラコッタを素材に彫刻作品を発表しています。紐づくりという原始的な技法で造形し、彩色は焼成前に施すという独自の方法をとっています。制約のある手法の中、表現方法を日々模索し、自然から着想したイメージを膨らませ、素材の持つ柔かな質感や色合いを生かしながら制作しています。また、金属や木などの異素材と組み合わせた作品も発表しており、個展ではそれらによる空間構成の展示となります。作品を通して、日常から踏み出した世界を感じていただけると幸いです。
